Behaviour Aspects of an EB-PVD Alumina (Al2O3) Film with an Interlayer (NiCrAlY) Deposited on AISI 316L Steel Investigated in Liquid Lead

The use of lead as a primary coolant is one the most attractive options for next-generation lead-cooled fast reactor systems (LFR). Despite many favourable features, liquid Pb harsh environment that induces problems on metallic components. Therefore, candidate materials LFR must be qualified, and solutions to improve their properties found. This paper’s objective present results obtained from tensile tests AISI 316L steel in at 400 °C, 450 500 short-term corrosion performed coated uncoated 550 °C. coating was made Al2O3 with CrNiAlY interlayer using electron beam-physical vapor deposition (EB-PVD) technique. Both mechanical were stagnant saturated oxygen. After testing, specimens characterised by several analyses, including scanning microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), optical (OM), scratching test, Vickers micro-hardness test. test highlight ductile behaviour material, case tests, coatings prove effective protecting substrate environment.
